Ismail Ahmed is director of contracts, grants, and administration at The Hilltop Institute. He administers all grants and contracts, budgets and appropriates funds, implements cost control policies and procedures, directs human resources, and oversees all operations of Hilltop's business office.
Prior to his position with The Hilltop Institute, Mr. Ahmed was manager of contracts and grants for UMBC's Accounting Department. In this capacity, he supervised and trained staff members, developed office policies and procedures, generated analytical reports for senior management, and gave presentations on grant-related topics. Mr. Ahmed also has several years of experience as research administrator at the University of Maryland (College Park), as well as the University of Virginia. In these roles, Mr. Ahmed was responsible for reviewing grant charges for compliance with federal regulations, working closely with administrators from sponsoring agencies, auditing and approving charges, and creating and revising budgets.
Mr. Ahmed obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from Hampton University. He is currently seeking a master's degree in management from the University of Maryland, University College.
