Community Benefit Requirement
New Mexico requires nonprofit and for-profit hospitals to provide community benefits as a condition for licensure.

The New Mexico Department of Health issues licenses to acute-care, general, and limited service hospitals that agree, among other things, to participate in Medicaid, Medicare, and county indigent care programs, and to serve nonpaying and low-income reimbursed patients.
