Jamie John
Policy Analyst
Jamie John, a policy analyst at The Hilltop Institute, is responsible for providing policy and analytical support on a range of health care-related issues, with a particular focus on Medicaid programs and state-level health care delivery systems.
Prior to joining The Hilltop Institute, Ms. John was a research assistant at a health insurance trade association, where she worked with senior staff to analyze large datasets using statistical programs to compare the health outcomes of Medicare beneficiaries. She also gathered qualitative information through literature reviews and interviews with health plan staff and revised and proofread publications. Prior to that, Ms. John held internships with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois and the American Dental Association (Chicago). Through her internships, Ms. John organized systematic literature reviews on health care reform, Medicare, and Medicaid; assisted with the planning of a seminar on aging and long-term care issues; performed an external environmental scan of oral cancer and smoking cessation resources; and conducted (and analyzed the results of) a health needs assessment of underprivileged populations.
Ms. John has a master’s degree in health policy and a bachelor’s degree in public health.
